When I started training with Victoria in January 2012 I never imagined that six years on I would still be training with her and more recently, with other members of her team. Then, it was all about making better use of the time that I devoted to keeping myself fit. We did this by working through a properly designed and managed exercise programme. It still is, but now we have a few more goals to incorporate! 

The meticulous attention to detail becomes even more important as the ageing process makes ever-changing demands. More than ever, I have learned the importance of listening to my body and we make sure that our training regimes provide what the body needs. Exercise books filled with programmes and plans are testimony to the detailed attention that has been given to meeting my specific and ever-changing needs.

Spring Personal Training Packages

It may be currently FREEZING and SNOWING but soon, spring will be upon us! These are the most challenging training months in terms of motivation and commitment. Are you struggling to shift those extra Christmas pounds? Do you get to the end of most weeks and realise you haven’t exercised or what you did do was a little half hearted? 

The evenings may still be dark and your hibernating instinct may be at its peak but if you start better training and eating now then you will feel great in your lighter spring clothes when April comes around. We can only hide in our big baggy winter jumpers for so long!

An introduction to Tabata Training: The 4 minute workout!

Tabata Training was invented by Japanese professor Dr. Izumi Tabata in the late 1990s. He used it to train olympic speed skaters! Since then, it has been used by athletes and gym bunnies alike to make fitness gains in a short amount of time. The great thing about Tabata training (apart from the obvious appeal of how brief the workout can be) is that it is accessible to everyone! As long as you are working as hard as you can then that is all that matters 🙂

Exercises for Great Posture

Poor posture is a modern day problem! What causes the rounding of the upper back? Sitting at desks, peering over computer screens, mobile phone use, long hours driving or commuting are often the main culprits. But what is happening in the body when this ‘poor posture’ develops?

The rounding of the upper back (often referred to as kyphosis) results in long and weak upper back muscles which don’t activate when we need them too and over time this means tight chest and shoulders which can limit shoulder mobility. Posture issues can develop to different degrees but if your back starts to round then the problem will only get worse unless you devote sometime to increasing strength, body awareness and over time, better posture!
